Glass: Manufactured material, though can occur naturally

Pros/cons:

• Stain resistant

• Hygienic because not porous

• Durable if over 1: thick

• Expensive

• Can chip and crack 

• Cannot be repaired

• Not heat resistant 

• Resistant to scratches 

• Shows fingerprints easily

• Maintenance free 

• Can do only glass (thicker piece), or lay glass on top of another surface (thinner piece). Both will have a green/blue colored edge due to the iron in the glass

• Large shards create a bold look and finely ground glass is a more subtle look

How to clean and maintain glass countertops:

• Use soft cloth or sponge

• Use a commercial glass or multi-purpose cleaning product

• For a natural cleaner, mix distilled water and vinegar

• For stains and spills, use dishsoap, water and a soft cloth

• Never use paper towels as it will leave a lint residue; a microfiber cloth is much better
